The Last Journey
I have travelled many a mile, Across land from shore to shore, And I have seen of God’s creation, Still yet… He shows me more.
Up mountains of tribulation, Through valleys of disappointment, Through floods of constant heartbreak, On roads so twisted and bent.
My journey has taken many years, At times, I saw the sun… others only rain, There were times of insurmountable joy, And others of untold pain.
I thought the many struggles, That they would never end, Until I met the Master, Who became my closest friend.
I listened as He talked to me, To watch as He would lead, The mountains seem so small now, The valleys not so deep. The floods they just pass around, The roads seem true and straight, My journey takes on new meaning, Leading to the Eastern Gate.
Someday, my journey will be over, For it will be a thing of the past, As eternity erases all trials forever, Where joy and peace will last.
The last journey which I will take, Will be with my friend and Lord, Through the Eastern Gate that waits, As promised in His Word.
No more valleys and mountains, No seas of deep despair, There will be no more twisted roads, In a place beyond compare.
For the last journey I will take, Will not be a lonely one, When passing into glory, I’ll walk with God’s own Son.
